how would i paint this type of furniture?

i have a computer armoire, book case, and some some tables in my bedroom that don’t match anything else. since i can not afford to replace this stuff i was thinking about painting them all black. the computer armoire doesnt need to be painted on the inside. how ever they are all that cheap fake wood stuff from places like walmart. i think they are sauder brand. how could i paint these all black and have them look nice, not trashy? is it even possible??

You’ll need to lightly sand the surfaces you want to paint so the paint will have something to stick to. Since you’re going from lighter to darker, you shouldn’t have to prime it first so once you get all the dust off from sanding, you can go ahead and paint it. I recommend spray paint for the smoothest look.

(I actually painted a Sauder piece WITHOUT sanding it) paint peeled right off!
